The Knoxville (Tennessee) Central High School Class of 1954 had a 45-year reunion July 23 and 24, 1999. It began on Friday afternoon with a golf outing at Willow Creek Golf Club. The temperature was in the nineties, and the heat index must have been 110! However, it was fun, even if some of us played poorly (due to the heat, no doubt). Then on Saturday morning we met at the old school (now Gresham Middle School) for refreshments, talk of our old days, and a memorial service for those members of the class who had died since graduation. Click here to see the list of our fellow class members who are no longer with us. In addition to the program, the visiting, and the delicious refreshments, several of us toured the building, remembering where our classes were, who our teachers were, and some of the things we did while attending good old CHS. Saturday evening was our dinner/dance at Fox Den Country Club. After a delicious buffet dinner, a band played old favorites from the fifties (none of the loud racket for us!) and we visited and danced. Ben Burnett and I took pictures at the various events.
In addition, we had a class picture made. Because of privacy concerns, I cannot label everyone here, but that is me (oops, "I" - wouldn't want to go against all Miss Gladys Warren taught us, now, would we? :-) ) on the front row next to the right end. As you can see from this picture, we may be getting older, but we're also getting better!! (Smile!) Click on the thumbnail here to see the picture. It is fairly large, so if your Internet connection is slow, you may have to wait a while for it to load.
