The Knoxville (Tennessee) Central High School Class of 1954 had a 50-year reunion on the weekend of May 21-22, 2004. A few classmates came early Friday to play golf and awards were made at the dinner on Saturday night.
On Friday night several small groups met at homes of members to renew acquaintances with friends from elementary and high school. Then on Saturday evening we met for dinner at Beaver Brook Country Club. Over 200 people attended and of those, over 100 were class members. What fun it was to renew old acquaintances and to see our classmates, some of whom we had not seen for 50 years! Classmates came from all around the country to celebrate the 50-year milestone. A group picture was made on the practice green because of the large number of attendees. A thumbnail picture is included below. Click on it to see the larger picture.
After a delicious all-you-could-eat buffet dinner, reunion planners had a program. A tribute was given to our deceased class members, and a white carnation was placed in a bouquet as the name of each was read. Below is Dixie placing the carnations in the vase and pictures of the plaques for those members. (Click on each to see a larger picture.)
John Temple, Bud Helton, and Richard "Stupe" Craig gave a lovely three-part rendition of one of the songs of the 50s - "Moments to Remember" - which exemplified what we were doing on that memorable night. And how many memories we have of our wonderful days at CHS!
Ben Burnett took pictures at the dinner. Click on the thumbnails to see the larger pictures. The larger ones will take a while to download if you have a dialup connection, so be patient as they load.
